Inflation in France and Spain decreased in June according to preliminary calculations. And inflation expectations in the eurozone continue to decline, shows an ECB measurement.
French inflation decreased to 2.1 percent in June. In May, inflation in the eurozone's second-largest economy was 2.3 percent.
The decline was slightly larger than expected. Analysts had on average expected French inflation in June to be 2.2 percent, according to a compilation of forecasts made by Bloomberg.
According to the EU-harmonized inflation measure, inflation in France decreased in May to 2.5 percent, which can be compared to 2.6 percent in April.
Inflation is also dampened in Spain according to a first calculation, down to 3.4 percent in June from 3.6 percent in May. This was in line with expectations.
In a separate report from the European Central Bank, inflation expectations in the eurozone continue to decline. Inflation is expected, according to the ECB's monthly measurement, to be 2.8 percent in one year and 2.3 percent in three years. Last month, expectations were 2.9 and 2.4 percent, respectively.
June figures for inflation in Germany and the entire eurozone are expected next week. Swedish inflation figures for June from Statistics Sweden (SCB) will be delayed until July 12.
