The high-profile heist included tiaras, necklaces and earrings worth a total of around 88 million euros (around 1 billion kronor). But the client thought they “could have taken more,” according to the thieves themselves.
The French newspaper Le Monde has now obtained interrogation transcripts from the questioning of the suspects.
The two interrogated men say the alleged ringleader “wasn’t happy” after they handed over the loot they took with them. “He thought we could have taken more,” one told investigators.
Those arrested claim that they do not know where the jewelry is today and refuse to provide information about their clients or other accomplices for fear of reprisals.
