The Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik is sentenced to one year in prison and banned from engaging in politics for six years, due to separatist actions.

The charges against Milorad Dodik included that he had not followed decisions from the High Representative Christian Schmidt, a German diplomat with an internationally mandated mission to monitor the peace process in the country.

Dodik and his lawyers were not present in the court in Sarajevo when the verdict was announced. He has said that he will not obey the verdict and has threatened with "radical measures", including potentially separating the Bosnian Serb part Republika Srpska from the rest of the country.
