One in five Swedes suffers from hearing loss, and the number of people affected is increasing as the population ages. But even though a hearing aid can alleviate the problem, waiting times are long.
The survey shows that only six out of 21 regions meet the 90-day care guarantee. In some regions, waiting times are up to 18 months.
However, it's not all bad; in the majority of regions, waiting times have decreased.
"The regions that provide resources, recruit more audiologists and develop services get positive results quite quickly," says HRF chairman Jonas Sahlberg in a press release.
