Over 23,000 households have been affected by power outages lasting more than a day in recent weeks - which is worse than during Storm Gudrun in 2005, writes SVT Nyheter.

At electricity company Eon, around 7,500 households were affected for more than 24 hours, at Vattenfall 5,000 households, but the worst was at Ellevio where 11,500 were left without power for an extended period.

"Normally, we have a maximum of 300 customers per year who are affected by such long outages. Now we have had 11,500 in just a few weeks. It is the worst we have seen since Storm Gudrun," Jonatan Björck told SVT.

The electricity company will evaluate whether they could have done anything better during the snow chaos.
