Stefan Kraft had a grip on the overall victory after winning two of the three previous competitions (Oberstdorf, Innsbruck) that are part of the Ski Jumping Week.
But with a powerful finish, 22-year-old compatriot Daniel Tschofenig not only won the final competition in front of 14,500 spectators in Austrian Bischofshofen on Monday. He also won the overall title.
It's completely incredible. I really had problems with this hill, but everything fell into place in the second jump. But Stefan was the best today and probably deserved to win, says Tschofenig, who also won in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on New Year's Day.
Kraft, until now the last Austrian to win the Ski Jumping Week (2015), led before the final jump but had to settle for 137.5 meters after being forced to wait a long time to get optimal wind conditions.
When Tschofenig simultaneously flew 140.5 meters in his second jump, the result list was turned upside down.
Daniel Tschofenig won the Ski Jumping Week with a total of 1,194.4 points, with overall runner-up Jan Hörl, also from Austria, 1.4 points behind. Stefan Kraft finished third, 4.1 points from victory.
It was only the third time in 73 editions of the German-Austrian Ski Jumping Week that Austria took all three podium places.
