Former municipal politician Mattias Ahlenhed (S) was charged after sending a threatening email to a party colleague. He has now been acquitted, SVT Västernorrland reports.

In an email to party colleague and regional politician Roger Johansson (S), Ahlenhed wrote, among other things, that he would not regret it if someone approached Johansson with a moose bouncer and described him as "a fat, ugly, pig-like fascist."

Ahlenhed was charged earlier this year with violating civil liberties. He has now been acquitted by the district court, which found that it was not an unlawful threat and that there was no concrete danger to civil liberties. However, the district court believes that the wording is highly inappropriate.

The background is the acrimonious dispute around Sollefteå Hospital. There has long been a deep rift within the Social Democrats in the region over the hospital.

Mattias Ahlenhed has previously been forced out of his political duties in Sollefteå.
