Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney praised Ljungblom and the team after the historic title.
"An incredible and historic season: the trophy comes home for the first time," he wrote on X.
The all-Canadian final in North America's premier league went four games before Montreal finally lifted the Walter Cup for the first time, beating Ottawa on the road.
Abby Roque was the match hero. The 28-year-old scored both the 1–0 and 2–0 goals.
Ljungblom, who joined Montreal from Modo for the 2024–2025 season, sealed the final series with a solo goal with just under five minutes left in the game. The PWHL was founded in 2024, and Ljungblom is the first Swede to win the title.
