In the same match as Alexander Isak scored a goal, his teammate and attacking competitor Hugo Ekitiké was sent off after taking off his jersey during the celebration of the decisive 2-1 goal. The Frenchman is thus suspended and will miss Saturday's Premier League match away to Crystal Palace, which opens up for Isak.
He (Isak) can play a number of minutes, but we still feel that 90 minutes can be a bit too much. From a long-term perspective, you cannot be stupid, give a player 90 minutes and then you have pushed him too far, says Arne Slot at Friday's press conference.
Isak has so far started two matches for Liverpool, but not in the Premier League.
It's not smart to play him 90 minutes yet, but he has come further in his pre-season. Usually, a player can play 60-70 minutes after two-three weeks.
Liverpool has started the league play with five straight wins and leads the table with five points.
We may have had a bit of luck to get 100 percent, but we also work incredibly hard, and when you work hard you get a chance to have luck. I don't think we stole any win, but in some matches, a draw would have been more fair, says Slot.
Saturday's match against Crystal Palace kicks off at 4 pm.
