Liverpool has agreed with Bayer Leverkusen to buy out the German national team midfielder Florian Wirtz, 22.
The Premier League champion is said to initially pay 100 million pounds, close to 1.3 billion kronor, for Wirtz.
But if all bonuses come in, the total cost will be 1.5 billion kronor.
That would be a Premier League record.
Earlier, the striker Darwin Nunez was Liverpool's most expensive signing with a price tag of 1.1 billion kronor.
Manchester City was involved in the bidding war for Wirtz, but is reported to have been deterred by the high transfer fee.
