"Wow, I can't believe it," he tells Viaplay, according to Expressen.
Hellgren came in second in the qualifiers in Florida, five strokes behind Canadian Richard T. Lee. Hellgren is guaranteed a start in all 13 events this year as an individual.
With Hellgren's successful qualification, there will be a Swede on the LIV tour this coming season as well. Henrik Stenson has lost his place.
The 35-year-old Hellgren has played mainly on the Asian Tour for the past six years, Svensk Golf writes, and in December he took his first victory when he won the season-ending Saudi Open.
"It's awesome, it's so cool. You can change your life in a few weeks. I won in Saudi and it led to this. It's crazy," he says.
