Lithuania's goalkeeper Linards Feldbergs was a wall, despite two conceded goals. He took a total of 57 shots during the match, eight of them penalties.

The first period was goalless, but after three and a half minutes into the second, Canada took the lead. Lithuania equalized through Eriks Mateiko after 13 minutes into the third period, but Canada regained the lead just a minute later when Ritchie Calum scored Canada's second goal. With two and a half minutes left, Lithuania's bench erupted in joy when Peteris Bulans scored the equalizer that took the match to overtime and penalties.

Canada missed their eight penalties, or rather, Linards Feldbergs made the Canadians goalless. After seven unsuccessful Lithuanian penalties, Eriks Mateiko stepped forward and scored the eighth, giving Lithuania the victory.
