Picadeli's self-pick salads are available in more than a thousand grocery stores across the country. Now the company has found listeria bacteria in frozen, pre-sliced chicken shipped from Lithuania.

It was discovered in an internal inspection. We go further in our tests than we actually need to, and this was in a so-called provocation test where we expose the samples to high temperatures, says Kristoffer Sunér, who is responsible for food safety at Greenfood, which owns Picadeli.

However, the levels were low and there was no risk of customers becoming ill. Listeria can cause serious illness in pregnant women or people with compromised immune systems.

The chicken has been recalled from stores.
