Liseberg Hopes to Open Rebuilt Oceana Water Park for Sports Holidays

Just in time for the sports holidays, Liseberg plans to open the rebuilt Oceana water park to the public, Göteborgs-Posten reports.

“The aim is to be slightly warmed up before the sports holidays, so we hope all Gothenburgers and tourists can swim then,” Stephanie Parke, operations manager for Oceana, told the newspaper.

The sports holidays run from February 15 to March 12 next year.

Liseberg expects to recruit 100 people for the new venture, and competition for the jobs is fierce. More than 1,000 people have applied for jobs at the swimming pool and entrance alone, according to GP.

The park was supposed to open more than two years ago, but the plans were put on hold after a fire destroyed the building in February 2024. One person died in the fire.
