During the pandemic, Lisa Nilsson stepped forward and represented the interests of artists and musicians. Now, "a clear and fearless voice" is being rewarded with the newly established prize Megafon.

The Megafon, which has been instituted by the Swedish artists' and musicians' interest organization (SAMI), is awarded to a person or organization that through their work contributes to a more inclusive, sustainable and just society.

"This award feels like a reward for a lot of voluntary work and risk-taking that solidarity is something we value in culture", says Lisa Nilsson in a press release.

In the motivation, the jury emphasizes that the artist "without agenda, assignment or compensation" put words to the frustration that colleagues felt during the pandemic.

The prize, of 50,000 kronor, is awarded in connection with the music conference Get Loud at Nalen in Stockholm.
