The 38-year-old puck forward from Övertorneå is developing.
I wrote a two-year contract when I came home from Switzerland and I wanted to do this with the city and the team. I don't have the energy to do it again, says he with the gold medal hanging around his neck and the obligatory gold helmet on his head.
But it's not certain that he will put his hockey career on the shelf.
I'll take a long, long vacation. It may be that I'll quit, but if something interesting and some adventure pops up, we'll see, says the forward.
"This is my club"
But playing in some competing SHL club won't happen.
No, no, this is my club.
When the final signal went off in the 5-2 victory over Brynäs in the sixth SM final, and the match ball was in, jubilant supporters poured onto the rink.
The Swedish Ice Hockey Association and SHL couldn't carry out the award ceremony, but when Linus Omark spoke through the loudspeaker system, it became calm.
With the mic in one hand and a champagne bottle in the other, he asked people to move away from the zone where it would take place.
And everyone followed his request.
When the preludes were over, he opened the champagne, after shaking it vigorously, and gave the supporters a shower.
It will probably be many "bumps" I'll spray tonight. It means so much for the whole city. Luleå Hockey is everything. It's so damn fun to see people happy, says Omark who throughout his career has played in the NHL, KHL, and Swiss league.
"Gets almost moved"
He has won World Championship gold, is Swiss champion, but the SM gold is the biggest he has experienced.
It's clear, it's my association. It's been fun to win in other ways too, but to do it with Luleå in my city...it doesn't get bigger than that. I get almost moved, says Omark who attended hockey high school in Luleå and has made eight seasons in the A-team.
Luleå took its second SM gold in 41 years in SHL and its first in 29 years.
Linus Omark on why Luleå was the best team:
We have a spearhead that we haven't had before in this association. We have good goal scorers, (Matteus) Ward came up really well in the playoffs, a five-man has decided a game, then he decided another. You need that to win gold, says Omark who made 10 points (5 goals and 5 assists) in his twelve matches in the playoffs.
Born: 5, 1987, in Övertorneå (38 years old).
Main merits: World Championship gold 2017, SM gold with Luleå 2025, Swiss champion with Genève-Servette 2023.
