The album itself is about being in the middle of life with a partner. They have been together for a long time, the toddler years have passed, and they are not always madly in love with each other.
In the song “Sommarkatt” from the new album, Linnea Henriksson sings “I have your sweater on and it burns against the skin”.
"It's quite private to warm yourself in someone else's sweater, and if you're not in sync in the relationship, it can almost feel like a lie and be terrible to wear," says Linnea Henriksson.
Pause
The album is a continuation of the self-titled "Linnea Henriksson" from 2017, which ended with a song about the longing to start a family and be still.
"I've had the greatest joy of my life – I was able to get pregnant and give birth to my child. Suddenly I'm a few years into it and haven't really stopped and understood it," she says.
"You & Me & More Time" is about the feeling that life and relationships have stopped, but also about coming to the realization that it doesn't have to be a bad thing.
- The basic theme of the album is that everything will work out if “you and I have more time,” she says.
Romantic comedy
Although the album is based on personal experiences, Linnea Henriksson describes it as a concept album where she plays with a "romantic comedy theme." On the cover of "You & Me & More Time," she clings to her boyfriend, who is facing away from the camera.
He is on the cover from the perspective that he gets to be in my music: that it is always me who is at the center and clinging.
Linnea Henriksson's partner, Wille Alin, has co-written some of the music on the album.
- It was very special to say: "You, can you put some guitar on the song that's about you not listening to me". At the same time, the collaboration has served as a creative key in that we pretended to be the main characters in a romantic comedy, says Linnea Henriksson.
The rom-com theme is also expressed in the album's three acts – a strong presentation of the characters, a middle part where things get messy, and a resolution with a happy ending, says Linnea Henriksson.
The sweater from “Sommarkatt” is also featured in the last song, “Det vi har”. There I am standing on the balcony in this sweater, but then it is the opposite: the warmest place you can be, says Linnea Henriksson.
"You & Me & More Time" will be released on January 9th by Sony Music Sweden. In February and March, Linnea Henriksson will go on tour in Sweden and Finland.
