The play will premiere at Hagateatern in Gothenburg on October 9. It is about two women who have different attitudes towards their Sami heritage, which they confront when they are about to sew a shroud for the repatriation of stolen Sami remains.
The drama revolves around what is "inherited - language, memories, silences and wounds" and explores how the forced assimilation of the Sami people continues to affect them.
In 2018, Axelsson published the acclaimed epic "Ædnan", which won the August Prize and was nominated for the National Book Awards in 2024. In the fall of 2026, she will publish the epic "Saivo".
