Winter 2020–2021:
Linn Svahn is in the form of her life, racking up sprint victories in the World Cup and even beating Norway's Therese Johaug in a distance race.
February 6, 2021:
Svahn falls in the World Cup sprint in Ulricehamn and lands hard on her shoulder. She seems to be able to escape unscathed. The day after the crash, Svahn is back on the starting line.
February 10, 2021:
The shoulder is worse than first thought. With two weeks left until the World Championships in Oberstdorf, Svahn cancels her participation in the Swedish Championships.
February 11, 2021:
Linn Svahn is selected for the Swedish World Cup squad. The following week she is back in full training and says her shoulder "is fine".
February 25, 2021:
The World Cup sprint is a fiasco for gold favorite Svahn, who is eliminated in the semifinals. Afterwards, the shoulder is pointed out as the problem, despite everything. It will be her only World Cup race.
March 13–14, 2021:
Svahn started in the World Cup in the Swiss Engadin, but without outstanding results.
April 11, 2021:
Linn Svahn comes fifth in the Swedish Championship 30 km race in Kalix. It will be her last competition for a long time.
September 7, 2021:
Seven months after the injury, the news comes: the shoulder needs surgery.
"One of the most problematic shoulder injuries I've encountered," says national team doctor Per Andersson.
November 10, 2021:
It is clear that Linn Svahn will miss the Beijing Olympics. Shortly afterwards, she will have a second shoulder operation.
March 11, 2022:
In an interview with Expressen, Linn Svahn, who still has a long way to go before making a comeback, talks about the time after the surgeries.
"The everyday life I've been living now has been so incredibly far from what I was used to before. I've been in so much pain – and been so enormously affected by it," she says.
October 25, 2022:
The shoulder injury is healed, but Svahn is still set for the Swedish season opener in November.
December 9, 2022:
Linn Svahn's first competition since April 11, 2021, was a national sprint in Idre. Svahn won in superior style.
January 21, 2023:
Svahn makes a comeback in the World Cup and finishes fifth in Livigno.
February 23:
Coming to the World Championships after a fourth and a fifth place in World Cup sprints, she began the World Championships with a fourth place in the sprint and followed up with a fourth place in the 30 km as well.
February 26, 2025:
The day before the World Championships sprint in Trondheim, Linn Svahn fell in training and hit her head so hard that she suffered a concussion, and was forced to leave the World Championships before it had even started. A couple of days earlier she had said:
"This is the first time I've stood like this at a press conference and I feel like I've had two weeks of flawless preparations."
February 10, 2026:
Linn Svahn wins the individual Olympic sprint in Val di Fiemme. It is her first championship medal of her career, in her first Olympic race.
