Linn Grant had a tough major debut at the Scottish Open last week. The 27-year-old was six over par after the first two rounds and was far from making the cut.
Grant played much better in Thursday's opening round of the British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes outside Blackpool. She shot a first-round 71, which puts her in a tie for 25th place going into the rest of the round.
Thai world number two Jeeno Thitikul leads at seven under par. She is two strokes ahead of world number three Ryu Hae-Ran of South Korea and Shiho Kuwaki of Japan.
