Linköping's new Finnish defender Mikko Kokkonen is suspended for two matches after a cross-checking against Frölunda forward Noah Hasa's face in Saturday's SHL premiere, announces the ice hockey league's disciplinary board.
The incident occurred outside of play at the beginning of the second period, but did not result in any penalty at the time. Kokkonen was reported afterwards by the SHL's group for player safety and the decision on suspension came on Sunday.
Kokkonen will therefore miss LHC's upcoming home matches against Timrå (Tuesday) and Djurgården (Thursday).
Frölunda won Saturday's match in Gothenburg with 2–1.
