"We have made a collective assessment that this is the best way forward for LHC," says club director Carl-Johan Stålhammar on the club's website.
Despite several big-name signings in recent seasons, Linköping has failed to rise from the bottom of the table and is twelfth, two points from a playoff spot and six points above the qualification line. The team has lost five of its last six matches.
"It is sad and disappointing to receive this news, as I have done everything I could to ensure we achieve success here in Linköping," says Jakobsson.
Linköping says that the club is working on an interim solution.
