The alpine icon Lindsey Vonn can finally celebrate again.
For the first time in six years, the American made it to the podium when she finished second in the super-G competition in the World Championship finals.
The 40-year-old was beaten by the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami but could strike back with her best result since she last stood on the podium in the World Championship 2019 in the competition in Sun Valley.
It has been a tough season with people saying that I'm too old and not good enough anymore. I think I showed that everyone is wrong, says Vonn who has not given a definitive answer about whether she will continue next season.
Vonn made a comeback earlier this winter after a five-year break. She is one of the best alpine skiers in history with an Olympic gold, two World Championship golds and 82 victories in the World Cup.
Gut-Behrami could, with the victory, win the overall cup in super-G.
