Vonn suffered a fractured leg and has undergone five surgeries since the crash, when she got her arm caught in a gate early in the race.

"My leg was broken and I couldn't get my skis off. I couldn't move and I was screaming for help," recalls Vonn, who was taken to the hospital by helicopter.

A CT scan awaited her.

"Halfway through I started sweating. I was in such extreme pain. I was screaming at the top of my lungs, 'Get me out of here.' It just wouldn't go away. It's etched into my brain."

"I don't want people to remember me for that crash," concludes Vonn, who wants to keep the door open to continue her skiing career.
