Vonn lost her balance after a jump and slid into the safety net. After receiving medical treatment, the 41-year-old skied slowly towards the finish line.
On the way down, she stopped a few times and grabbed her left knee.
It is unclear whether, and if so how badly, Vonn was injured in the fall.
That was hardly what Vonn wanted.
She is one of the biggest names at the Games and is seen as one of the favorites in the downhill race, which is scheduled for February 8.
The 41-year-old's career has been as successful as it has been plagued by injuries. She made a comeback last season after knee surgery.
The skiers had major problems in the snowstorm in Crans-Montana. Only three of the first six made it down.
After Vonn's fall, the organizers chose to stop the competition.
