Since 1998, live instruments have not been allowed on the Eurovision stage because tuning the instruments and installing microphones are considered too time-consuming. Stage changes are not allowed to last more than one minute.

But now the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has made an exception. Lampenius will be allowed to take the violin with her when she, together with Pete Parkkonen, performs the Finnish song "Liekinheitin" (Flamethrower), DN writes. Lampenius describes the decision as "historic" on Instagram.

Norwegian Alexander Rybak did not play his violin when he participated in 2009.
