Selected for the national team after 15 months – but the joy was short-lived for Lina Hurtig. A new injury prevents her from Nations League play.

It was during the last training session before Wednesday's Champions League match against Real Madrid that Arsenal's forward Lina Hurtig injured herself. Arsenal won the quarterfinal match 3-2 overall and are clear for the semifinal.

"After contact with Arsenal's medical team, it is clear that Lina will not be available for our upcoming gathering due to injury. A very sad message, of course, both for us and Lina herself, and we wish her a quick return to the football pitch", says national team doctor Houman Ebrahimi to the football association's website.

The national team will meet Italy and Wales in the Nations League on April 4 and 8, respectively.

Hurtig has not played for the national team since December 1, 2023, in the Nations League match against Switzerland.

After that, the forward suffered an injury and in April, Arsenal announced that she would miss the rest of the season for personal reasons.

The 29-year-old made her comeback in Arsenal in October and was among others instrumental in deciding the match against Juventus in the Champions League in November, which took Arsenal to the quarterfinal.
