The metal band Limp Bizkit's bassist Sam Rivers has passed away on Saturday, the band writes on Instagram.

”Sam Rivers was not just our bassist, he was pure magic”, write the band members John Otto, Fred Durst, Wes Borland and DJ Lethal in the statement.

Limp Bizkit have released songs like ”Break stuff”, ”Rollin” and ”Behind blue eyes”. They have a total of over 5.7 billion streams on Spotify. The band has a tour in South America planned for the winter and were set to play the Tons of Rock festival in Oslo in the summer of 2026.

Rivers was involved in founding the band in the mid-1990s, but took a break in 2015 due to a liver disease.

”I stopped drinking and did everything the doctors told me. I went into treatment for alcohol and got a liver transplant”, he said to John Wiederhorn in the book ”Raising Hell”.

No cause of death has been announced. Sam Rivers was 48 years old.
