With eleven minutes left to play at Wembley in London, Southampton appeared to have secured a place in the final when Finn Azaz scored the opening goal.
The lead did not last long. In the 82nd minute, Jérémy Doku equalized and five minutes later, Nico González scored the winning goal (2–1).
Manchester City now face a fourth consecutive FA Cup final. Last year they lost to Crystal Palace - the year before that, city rivals Manchester United took revenge for the loss in the 2023 final.
Chelsea and Leeds meet on Sunday in the second semi-final.
The final at Wembley will be played on May 16.
