The Dutch government is lifting a previously imposed sanction on computer chip manufacturer, Chinese-owned Nexperia, which will hopefully allow the pressured automotive industry to gain access to important products.

Dutch Trade Minister Vincent Karremans announced on Wednesday that the government is lifting state control of Nexperia, including production in the Netherlands, because there are no longer any signs that the company is continuing the behavior that prompted the previous decision.

China's response to the previous sanction, prompted by US suspicions of security problems, was to stop the export of Nexperia's computer chips from China. This has shaken the European auto industry, which is starting to run out of necessary electronics, writes Bloomberg and CNBC, among others.
