A 43-year-old man is sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a 54-year-old man who was hacked to death in his home in Kramfors on May 6 this year, announces Ångermanlands district court.

”The sentence is set to life imprisonment, as the court has found that the act was particularly ruthless and that the circumstances were aggravating”, the court writes in a press release.

A 52-year-old and 67-year-old man are also convicted of gross protection of offenders, to imprisonment for one year and six months and one year, respectively.

According to the indictment, the 67-year-old drove the two other men to the 54-year-old's residence. The man was stabbed with a knife in the neck, but managed after the assault to get to a neighbor who alerted SOS. He died later of his injuries.

The knife used in the crime was stolen from Dollarstore in Kramfors about 15 minutes before the alarm came in, according to the investigation. The three men are said to have left the scene together in a car and the knife was later found by the police in a ditch along the route.

”The three accused men and the plaintiff have all been acquainted with each other. All acknowledge the course of events, and the 43-year-old has admitted to gross assault and causing another person's death while the other two deny the crime”, said prosecutor Karolina Fredriksson in a comment when the indictment was brought.
