The shooting took place in the middle of the day near Berga Church in Linköping on August 13, 2024. A 41-year-old man, identified as the gang leader of a local network, was shot and died. The boy who confessed to the murder was not charged due to his age.
In Linköping District Court, two men were sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, but the Court of Appeal changed the sentence for one of the men, who was instead sentenced to 14 years in prison for aiding and abetting. Three others were sentenced for aiding and abetting. Their sentences range from 3.5 years in closed youth care to 14 years in prison.
A sixth person who was convicted in the district court was acquitted.
