When 31-year-old Liam Payne died in October last year, he had no will. But now it stands that it will be his former partner, British singer Cheryl, who will be tasked with managing his fortune of 309 million kronor, People writes.
Cheryl, whose full name is Cheryl Tweedy and who is the mother of Payne's eight-year-old son, will administer the inheritance together with a lawyer. According to BBC, it is currently primarily a formality, and Cheryl and the lawyer currently have limited opportunities to use the money.
British legislation states that it is normally the children who inherit when someone dies without a will, unless there is a spouse, wife, or registered partnership.
Liam Payne fell to his death from the balcony of the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16 last year. The police found drugs in his hotel room and a forensic examination showed that he had traces of alcohol, and prescription antidepressants in his body.
Two people suspected of having supplied Payne with drugs are, however, still detained awaiting trial.
