The reality series "Building the band" is a singing competition with a setup that resembles "Love is blind" and "The voice". The series' first episode has premiered on Netflix.
According to Deadline, the recordings began during the summer of 2024 and ended in August.

When we started recording "Building the band" we could never imagine that we would soon be saying goodbye to our friend Liam Payne, he says.
Payne participates as a guest judge in episodes later in the season along with Kelly Rowland and Nicole Scherzinger. There, Payne's "deep love for music and his unwavering commitment to helping others find their voice" are visible, McLean means.
It is in that spirit that we dedicate this series to Liam and his family, he continues.
Payne was one of the members of the group One Direction, which was formed in the British talent show "X-factor" in 2010. In 2016, the band took a break and has not played together since then.
The 31-year-old Liam Payne fell to his death from the balcony of the hotel Casa Sur in Buenos Aires on October 16 last year. The police found drugs in his hotel room and a forensic examination showed that he had traces of alcohol, cocaine, and prescription antidepressants in his body.
