Anaheim beat Connor McDavid's team 7-4 and took a 2-1 lead in the round of 16. Carlsson scored a spectacular 5-3 goal with a backhand finish.
He was named one of the game's stars and was praised by Henrik Lundqvist, an expert commentator on the American television channel TNT. Anaheim played its first playoff game at home since 2018 and the atmosphere was electric.
"It was crazy. You didn't know what to expect, but I give the audience full credit," he said.
Leo Carlsson has scored four points, two goals and two assists in the first three playoff games.
