The Swede contributed to several of Anaheim's goals. His first effort came in the ninth minute when he played teammate Chris Kreider in. A few minutes later, he contributed an assist in the 2-2 tie.
In the final minutes of the third period, Carlsson scored once again, this time as a goal scorer, and tied the game at 4–4, which turned the match into a penalty shootout.
Carlsson had the chance to decide with the first penalty, but missed.
In the end, it was teammate Mason McTavish who decided the match to a 5–4 victory.
