Lena Olin has been one of Sweden’s best-known actors internationally since the 1980s. She had her breakthrough in “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” in 1988 and was nominated for an Oscar two years later for “Enemies, a Love Story.” In recent years, she has often worked with her husband, director Lasse Hallström, including on the 2022 film “Hilma,” about the artist Hilma af Klint.
American actor John Turturro receives this year’s Stockholm achievement award and will come to Stockholm with his new film “The Only Living Pickpocket in New York.”
Noted documentary
Martin McDonagh’s critically acclaimed “Wild Horse Nine” is this year’s festival opener, while the highly acclaimed documentary “You Can See Everything,” by Lance Oppenheim and Nathan Fielder, closes the festival.
This year’s spotlight theme is “Daddy Issues,” represented by “Club Kid,” director Jordan Firstman’s much-hyped debut about a party boy who suddenly finds himself with a baby on his lap. Firstman, who plays the lead role, is best known for the comedy series “I Love LA.”

Other films screening at the festival include director Pawel Pawlikowski’s “Fatherland,” in which Sandra Hüller plays the daughter of author Thomas Mann. Hüller also appears in Austrian filmmaker Markus Schleinzer’s “Rose,” one of eleven Oscar nominees in the Best International Feature category being screened at the festival.
The festival will also screen “Wicker,” a romantic comedy about a medieval woman (Olivia Colman) who, lacking real suitors, orders a dream man woven from wicker. The man is played by Alexander Skarsgård.
The Stockholm Film Festival runs from November 11 to 22.
