Cartoonist and illustrator Lena Furberg is best known for her comics in the magazine Min Häst about the wayward pony Mulle.
For six decades, she has "transformed a love of horses, riding and stable life into lasting comic art," the jury writes in its citation.
The award is announced at the Gothenburg Book Fair, where the Swedish Comics Academy also awards the international Adamson statuette to French comics creator and film director Riad Sattouf, who worked for the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo for many years and has been praised for his book "The Arab of the Future".
