A lemur has disappeared from Tropikariet in Helsingborg and the police have initiated a preliminary investigation into theft.

The disappearance was discovered at lunchtime when the staff counted the animals. Of eight lemurs – four young and four adults – only seven remained. A young lemur was missing, writes HD.

The zoo had been open for two hours. Tropikariet's CEO and owner Magnus Lindqvist assesses the possibility of the lemur escaping as "extremely small".

The likelihood that it is stolen is greater, he says to the newspaper.
