It was set to be an ice hockey party when the classic clubs and tipped top teams, Leksand and Södertälje, were due to kick off the HockeyAllsvenskan season at Tegera Arena.
But after just 30 seconds, the game was called off. Someone had lit pyrotechnics in Södertälje's away section, causing the fire alarm to go off, the arena to empty and the players to leave the ice.
After 40 minutes of work by security personnel, it was deemed safe enough to play ice hockey again.
It's sad of course. It's a bit of an anticlimax, I feel sorry for the fans who are forced to go out, it's a waste of time, Leksand's Patrik Zackrisson told TV4.
Once the match was back on, the home team showed no signs of being bothered by the long interruption, ending 2-0 to Leksand after goals by Carter Berger and Patrik Zackrisson.
That was enough for Leksand to overwhelm Södertälje.
Roope Laavainen did create hope for the away team with a late consolation goal in the final period.
But Leksand held on and got a dream start in HockeyAllsvenskan after last season's relegation from the SHL.
It's nice to come home to Leksand and play for this, it's clear that it feels fun to contribute, says Patrik Zackrisson.
