A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to forensic psychiatric care for the murder and attempted murder of two women close to him, Västmanland District Court announced.

It was in May of this year that the 38-year-old man stabbed his girlfriend to death in his home in Skultuna. He then went to his ex-wife's house in Rönnby and tried to murder her too. The ex-wife survived the attack.

According to the forensic psychiatric examination, the man suffers from a serious mental disorder, but the prosecutor requested life imprisonment. However, the District Court sentences the man to forensic psychiatric care with a special discharge review.

The man is also convicted of child endangerment, as three children were at one of the crime scenes.

After the act, the man injured himself. He has stated that he does not remember the events and that he can therefore neither admit nor deny the crime.
