Terrorist Ahmad al-Moghrabi, a local leader of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, has been convicted and imprisoned for, among other things, ordering terrorist bombings in which people lost their lives, writes Expressen.
Ilona Szatmári Waldau says she was not aware of this when she expressed her sympathies for him.
"None of the prisoners who received letters would have engaged in violence against civilians or have people's lives on their conscience. Here there was an error in the fact-checking, which is not acceptable," she writes in a post on Facebook.
She also announces that the post has been deleted.
“Terrorism and violence against civilians is not something I support or encourage,” writes Ilona Szatmári Waldau.
Earlier this year, Expressen revealed that 25 left-wing candidates had celebrated terror and praised dictatorships, mainly in connection with the Israel–Palestine conflict. Following the revelation, 22 V candidates have been removed from, or voluntarily left, the party's ballots.
Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar tells Aftonbladet that she has confidence in Ilona Szatmári Waldau.
"What she wanted to say was that you must have a fair trial according to the Geneva Convention. I feel very confident with her values," says Dadgostar.
