It was last Friday that Ali told Sveriges Radio Ekot that he would attend the Riksdag (the Swedish parliament) on Monday.
"However, it is a misunderstanding that he would come to Stockholm and the Riksdag tomorrow," Kalle Larson, chief of staff for the Left Party, wrote in a text message to SVT on Sunday.
Ali applied for two weeks' leave in connection with the opening of parliament last week, following media reports that the police had opened an investigation into suspected election fraud. Neither Ali nor anyone else had been informed of any suspicion of a crime in the police investigation as recently as Friday afternoon, according to the radio.
