When the Riksdag (the Swedish parliament) opened two weeks ago, Mohamed Ali, a prominent left-wing member from Borlänge, applied for two weeks’ leave.
The reason was a police investigation into suspected election fraud, which, according to media reports, is linked to his campaign. Ali has not been charged with any crime.
Now that his leave has expired, Ali has called the Riksdag’s Chamber Office and reported sick, according to Aftonbladet.
If he is sick for more than eight days, the office will require a medical certificate.
