Leeds defender Gabriel Gudmundsson started in the Premier League match against Newcastle. Towards the end of the match, the Swede sat down, and then received medical treatment.

In minute 80, Gudmundsson was substituted, and the 26-year-old limped off the pitch. Worrisome images for Sweden and national team captain Jon Dahl-Tomasson, who selected Gudmundsson for the Swedish squad that will play World Championship qualification at the beginning of September.

There was also Swedish presence in Newcastle. Anthony Elanga had to start the match on the bench, but was substituted in after an hour of play. Alexander Isak is still on strike in Newcastle in the hope of being able to leave the club for Liverpool, and was not included in the squad that took on Leeds at Elland Road.

In the stands sat Newcastle's new striker Nick Woltemade, the acquisition that makes it possible for Isak to finally leave the club for the reigning Premier League champion.

The match between Leeds and Newcastle ended 0–0.
