With a week left until the election, Lee is leading big. His main competitor Kim Moon-Soo from the People's Power Party (PPP), which holds the governing power, gets 35 percent of the confidence of the voters in the investigation.

According to the investigation, the Democratic Party will gather the most votes in the capital Seoul and the populous city Incheon, as well as in Gyeonggi, which is the country's most populous province.

The country is going to the election after months of political turmoil after the now-deposed president Yoon Suk Yeol's attempt at a coup and the introduction of martial law in the country.
