Basketball legend LeBron James, 40, extends the contract with Los Angeles Lakers over next season.

The star has activated a player option in his contract worth around 540 million kronor.

The extension means that LeBron James will be the first player ever to play in NBA in 23 seasons.

He is also 50 matches away from breaking the record for number of played matches in NBA's regular season. The record is currently at 1,561 matches and is held by Robert Parish.

LeBron James has been NBA champion four times, and has been named the league's most valuable player (MVP) four times.
