The main points in the negotiations between Israel and Lebanon continue to concern Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon and the disarmament of the Shiite militia Hezbollah.

But according to a Lebanese government source, Israel will not extend the withdrawal of its forces until the Lebanese military fully controls two “test zones” established in southern Lebanon. For three weeks, Lebanese forces have been stationed in at least one village.

Israel has - despite an agreed ceasefire and ongoing negotiations - carried out new airstrikes on southern Lebanon. According to the UN force UNIFIL, more than 100 Israeli projectiles were fired into Lebanon on Wednesday alone, the highest number since June.
