Lebanese President: Reject Israeli invasion

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun orders the country's military to "confront all Israeli invasions" in the southern parts of the country. Israeli military has carried out attacks in southern Lebanon. In one of the attacks, a municipal worker was reportedly killed.

The army will "confront all Israeli invasions in liberated southern territory, in defense of Lebanese territory and the security of citizens," Aoun said in a meeting with the army chief, according to a statement from the presidential office.

The Israeli military stated on Thursday morning that it had launched an attack in southern Lebanon, Israeli media reported.

According to the military, infrastructure belonging to the Shiite militia Hezbollah was attacked, including a tunnel shaft and a rocket launcher. In footage published in Lebanese media, large clouds of smoke can be seen rising into the sky in Jarmaq in southern Lebanon.

Earlier in the night, a community in southern Lebanon was also attacked. According to Lebanon's Health Ministry, a municipal worker was killed in the Israeli attack, which Lebanon said targeted the Blida municipal building.

Israel claims that the building was used by Hezbollah "under the guise of civilian infrastructure," writes The Times of Israel .

Israel and Hezbollah signed a ceasefire last November, but Israel has repeatedly bombed targets in Lebanon, mainly in the south but also in the capital Beirut. Israel also maintains several outposts in southern Lebanon, in violation of the agreement.
