The French far-right in National Rally (RN) is ready to bring down Prime Minister Michel Barnier's government if the budget is not changed.
My opinion has not changed, and it does not seem like the Prime Minister has changed either, says RN's front figure Marine Le Pen according to the news agency AFP after a meeting with Barnier on Monday.
The Prime Minister will also meet with the left-wing party LFI's group leader Mathilde Panot to hear her view on the matter. Government representatives have warned that France risks ending up in the same difficult economic situation as Greece did during the financial crisis 15 years ago.
Barnier has led a minority government since last autumn with support mainly from the right-wing party LR and President Emmanuel Macron's electoral alliance Together (Ensemble).
Regardless of whether the government falls, new elections cannot be held in France until at least the summer.
